Well it time to move on again, would like to have spent a couple of days more in Memphis, got to like the feel of it though it's not what I expected, real nice place.
On the road by 9:15, not too far today, just over 200 miles to do so we can take our time today. What we did need is a laundrette, we pop off the highway a few times but don't find even one, any other day we would have found plenty.
Oh well, we stop along the way at another historic place, can you remember a TV show called "Casey Jones", their was such a person....
The museum wasn't open....
One for Tim
But the gift shop was open.
We make it to Nashville, not what I was expecting, it is a very large city. The Hotel is something else...
It's amazing what you can do with an old Railway Station, Newbury wouldn't look like this in million years. Our room is very nice too, the sounds of trains nearby can be heard, makes Ali feel at home...
We settling in before we head out to find that elusive laundrette, we find one about two miles away. Still very cheap to do your washing here, and it isn't very long we are back at the Hotel.
It's time for tea, the town is very busy with the added interest of the CMA's going on at the Bridgestone Arena. We walk along the main street, lots of live music venues and bars but not many places to eat that is worth the effort.
We find a sports bar that has the CMA's on, we then look for a bar with a band on, so many to choose from.
We find one but it becomes evident this a pick up joint, not long after that we leave but we do find a nice little coffee house and ice cream parlour called Mike's.
Well worth a visit and with that we call it a night.
From our Hotel room.
I have a road trip tip for you. Don't bother with launderettes. Occasionally stay at a Holiday Inn Express - they can quite often be found and every one has a "guest laundry" where you can wash your own clothes in the hotel. I remember Casey Jones and his "Steaming and a Rolling". Loved the station roof.
